In the night’s main event, former welterweight title challenger Lorenz Larking takes on Fernando Gonzalez in a 180-pound catchweight contest. The UFC veteran Larkin has dropped back-to-back fights since joining the promotion last year. Gonzalez, meanwhile, has won seven of his last eight bouts, with the lone loss coming via split decision.

Bellator 193 heads to the Pechanga Resort and Casino in Temecula, Calif., with a rather thin card following last week’s big Bellator 192 event. The headliner takes place at a catchweight of 180 pounds with UFC veteran Lorenz Larkin up against Fernando Gonzalez. Larkin made the jump to greener pastures with Bellator, but he has failed to find a victory through two fights with the organization. The losses have set Larkin back, and now he has another tough test in the Bellator cage. Gonzalez has won his last two fights against Brennan Ward and Brandon Girtz. Gonzalez can certainly flirt with a spot near the top of the division if he defeats Larkin.

The co-main event heads to the lightweight division, where another Bellator veteran, Saad Awad, takes on J.J. Ambrose. Ambrose has won his last five fights on the regional circuit and hasn’t fought for Bellator since Bellator 103. Awad is currently riding a two-fight winning streak. Awad’s most recent victory came against Zach Freeman in November.

Hailing from Menifee, Calif., 33-year-old Fernando Gonzalez will enter th e Bellator cage for the ninth time in his nearly 15-year professional career. Gonzalez has seen a great deal of success since joining forces with Bellator MMA, having collected seven victories over an eight-fight, four-year span. Gonzalez has come on strong as of late, tallying 10 wins over his last 13 bouts, including a pair of first round knockouts. With 17 of his 27 career victories coming by way of knockout or submission, “The Menifee Maniac” will look to see his win-streak continue following his recent success against Brennan Ward at Bellator 193.
