The first of two high school football All-American games takes place on Thursday in Orlando, Florida, as some of the nation’s best athletes partake in the Under Armour All-America Game.
Quarterback Justin Fields, who is a Georgia commit, is one of the top players on the roster for the showcase. He’ll play on Team Spotlight alongside Clemson defensive end commit K.J. Henry and Penn State wide receiver signing Justin Shorter.
Team Highlight will be led by Alabama defensive end commit Eyabi Anoma, LSU wide receiver commit Terrace Marshall Jr. and future Florida quarterback Emory Jones. Not only will Thursday serve as a showcase for players who have already locked up their college destinations, it will also be a platform for unsigned stars to receive more attention as the recruiting process for the class of 2018 reaches the final stages.
When Maryland football signees Austin Fontaine and Jaelyn Duncan step on the field Thursday evening at Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida, it’ll mark the seventh consecutive year at least one future Terp has played in the Under Armour All-America Game.
It won’t be as easy to key in on the Maryland commits as it has been in recent years, given each will play on the line. Fontaine will be wearing No. 79 in white, while Duncan will be No. 70 in black.
With the first ever Early Signing Period now behind us, college programs are now able to evaluate their 2018 recruiting classes and finalize to whom their remaining scholarships should be awarded. Several of those coveted spots will be held for high school players competing in the 2018 Under Armour All-America Game.
The Under Armour High School All-America Game has certainly grown up since its inaugural game held ten years ago at Orlando’s Wide World of Sports Complex. Today it brings together some of the names that many college football fans already know. However unlike years past, many of the participants have already signed with the colleges of their choice.
