Some of the best action sports athletes in the world will converge on Aspen, Colorado for the Winter X Games 22 from Jan. 25 through Jan. 28. Those athletes will compete in six skiing events, six snowboarding events, two snowmobiling events, and two snow bike events.
Events like SuperPipe, SlopeStyle and Big Air are always the highlights of the winter festivities. The action begins Thursday, with television coverage provided by ESPN beginning at 10 p.m. ET and running for about 90 minutes. Live streaming will be available online.
The events on Thursday include the Men’s Ski SuperPipe Final and the Snowmobile Speed & Style Final, at least as far as the televised portion is concerned. Earlier in the day, Men’s Snowboard Slopestyle Qualifying, Special Olympics Unified Snowboarding, and Women’s Ski SuperPipe are the events you can catch if you happen to be attending the event.
Things won’t pick up with huge blocks of action until Saturday, when ABC will carry coverage of several medal events. Still, Thursday’s action will be a good start, and a good primer for the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, South Korea, which begin on Feb. 9.
The 23rd edition of the Winter X Games arrives on January 25, 2018, as the superstars of the slopes make their way back to Buttermilk Mountain in Aspen, Colorado.
Old faces and new will shred their way through the American southwest setting across three different disciplines: skiing, snowboarding and snowmobile.
The snow stars will entertain in formats such as slopestyle, big air, SuperPipe and freestyle, with the aim being to produce tricks that never been seen before to earn high scores.
This year’s Winter X Games fall just a fortnight before the 2018 Winter Olympics are scheduled to kick off in Pyeongchang, South Korea, next month, and the Colorado event will act as a gruelling warm-up for that trip.
